Hello, gentle reader. I'm sitting here, patiently waiting for Fall to arrive, cuz the heat index has been 105-110 this week! That didn't help on Tuesday evening when I ran the Crime Prevention 5K in 21:04. I had hopes of getting south of 20:00, and I was right on pace at mile 1 with a time of 6:24. Then it was all downhill after that....figuratively, not literally. I ended up with about a 6:46 pace overall. I knew it was over at about 1 1/2 miles. Just too damn hot, and I'm not good enough to run through that kind of weather. Some people can. Not me. I did, however, place second in my 40-44 age bracket. Nice medal. Lots of beer. Laura ran the race, also. The kids were with the LSU in-laws, so we both could hang out and enjoy the after party.
Well, it's back to the drawing board. I have some ideas about improving in the 5k. More tempo runs. More hill work. And oh yeah, cooler weather.
Not that I'm whining. I'm just sayin'....
